Of the three players out on loan, two played and one had the weekend off due to the weather. Tom Soares was the lucky player with the weekend off after Sheffield Wednesday's game was called off due to the snowy conditions making the areas around the stadium too dangerous.
The two that did get their game on were the Barnsley duo of Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson. However the pair were powerless to stop the Tykes going down by three goals to one and didn't have the best of games.
Both of them may have drawn high praise from the Oakwell crowd but Saturday saw two of the three goals conceded attributed to the pair as, firstly, Shotton was outjumped by Freddie Eastwood at the far post for the opener before Carl Dickinson 'fell asleep', according to the BarnsleyMAD forum, for the third.
Shotton was playing at right back and his performance, where he was described as the worst defender, has seen people debating that he should be moved back into the centre of defence where he has put in his best performances for the Tykes. He was withdrawn after 86 minutes.
Dickinson played left back and comments were made that he needs to 'improve his passing' whilst he had a pretty solid game up until that injury time goal that clinched the game.
Both of the defenders were booked during the game, Shotton in the 62nd minute fir a foul and Dickinson in injury time for dissent.
