Official Boothen Roar Match Preview: Blackburn v Stoke

Last updated : 24 December 2010 By Dan Buxton

The Potters travel to Ewood Park this weekend to play Blackburn after just one defeat in six games, but still searching for a first ever December Premier League win.

Stoke sit 13th in the Premier League and will be up to try and inch further away from the relegation zone and hopefully into a european position. The hosts are one place and one point above City but have played one more game.

Stoke have a decent away record this season and have beaten West Brom and Newcastle but have lost five of their other six trips in 2010/11. Blackburn have only four league home wins this season, along with two defeats and three draws from their nine home games so far.

In the 42 matches between these sides at Blackburn, the Potters have won 6, the hosts 29 and seven have been drawn. Last time the pair clashed at Ewood Park the game ended in a boring 0-0 draw. Overall Blackburn have won 40 times to the Potters 32 victories.

The referee is Mike Jones. This season he took charge of the Potters when they drew away at Wigan and won away at Newcastle. He refereed Blackburn in their 2-1 win away at Newcastle this season.

The Met Office report that it will be misty, temperatures of a freezing -1 degrees celsius, poor visibility and a strong 21mph wind.

Prediction: The Potters take full advantage of the turmoil at Ewood to run out 2-1 winners and end their December jinx.
