There was so much to put into this week’s column. Our complete failings in the transfer window, the awful display of anti-football away at Sunderland, and then the absolutely breath-taking performance yesterday. But none of that matters. Yesterday, a young father lost his life whilst watching the club he loved. The exact details of this tragedy are still unconfirmed as I write this. I’d like to take this opportunity to offer not only my condolences, but the condolences of every football fan in the country.
Bill Shankly very famously said "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that." Never has a statement been further from the truth. Words cannot do justice to the utter tragedy that has taken place, so I shall not even attempt to try to find them.
To everyone at Blackburn Rovers Football club, “We’ll Be With You”.
