Hardly Pay For Slack Marking

Hardly were condemned to a heavy defeat on a frustrating night.

With the usual squad restored to the line up it took less than a minute to go behind. Gordon, playing out of goals for only the second time, running through the area when trying to defend, and the spot kick was tucked away to put Hardly immediately on the back foot.

Tracking back and man marking was slack and as such goals number two and three quickly followed with tensions running high on the field.

A fourth goal was struck before half time before a much improved second half performance from Hardly. Passing, marking and commitment was all greatly improved and after a quiet first period Allstars keeper was called upon time and again to keep Hardly out of the game, with Athletic also twice striking the woodwork.

The opposition should have been down to four men when a sliding challenge on Buxton rightly resulted in an automatic four minute sin bin. However, this was amazingly rescinded when his team mates pleaded that 'he doesn't know the rules!'.

The dismay and anger at the decision was heightened seconds later when the same player netted the fifth and final goal to wrap up the scoring.
