Stoke Ramblers quest for silverware was stumped by a well drilled Boing FC side at Oldbury Leisure Centre.
The Ramblers were without a couple of wingers and left short on the right hand side but were boosted by full backs Dan Buxton(dead leg), Dan Griffin(knee) and Dan Heard(ankle) all passing pre-match fitness tests.
The latter started whilst the other two settled for spots on the bench and the match started with both sides feeling each other out. Boing were the first to get the upper hand and went close on a trio of occasions to breaking the deadlock before the Ramblers created some chances of their own but were also unable to take them and draw blood first.
Ramblers were thrown into disarray at the back when Heard was subbed off after 25 minutes after struggling with his injury and then his replacement Griffin being forced off just 30 seconds after being introduced. Boing then took the lead when an attack down that same flank saw a ball put across the 6 yard box, before being collected and played back across goal to an unmarked Boing striker, who calmly tucked the ball away.
The second goal arrived 5 minutes later when, with rain starting to fall, a goal kick was flicked on in the midfield putting a home striker in on goal. The Boing frontman composed himself and rolled the ball past Ramblers keeper Glennan and into the net to double the advantage.
Ramblers were able to regroup at the break and had an effort cleared off the line moments before a run and cross from Alex Bradford found an unmarked Lee Jaquiss at the back post, the striker making no mistake.
Stoke pushed for an equaliser but were also wary of Boing's attacking threat and a linesman flag denied the hosts a third goal on the hour mark.
Boing were not be denied that vital third though and a mistake from Glennan handed them the strike. The ball was put in from the right wing but a misjudgement from the Ramblers gloveman ended with him dropping the ball at the feet of Boing number 10, who smashed the ball into the unguarded net.
With both sides giving it their all the game continued in ever changing weather conditions the ball flew from end to end but there were no more goals and Boing FC deservedly picked up the trophy and were crowned 'IFA Midlands Cup winners 2010/11'.
