Stoke Ramblers 4-1 Telford

Stoke produced another quality display to see off a dangerous Telford side in the last ever Adults game to be played at Halls Road.

The Ramblers record as a home side at Halls Road read played six, won five and drawn one before this game and an assured display made sure that fine unbeaten run was preserved.

A thunderstorm late last night had softened what was previously a rock hard surface and then stop-start showers all morning left the teams with a nice greasy surface to play the game on.

Telford started well and had a lot of possession before the Ramblers scored two quickfire goals midway through the first half, both from corners.

The first was swung in by Cope with centre back Myatt heading goalwards, only for it to be cleared off the line. Steadman reacted first to the rebound and nodded in from 6 yards to break the deadlock.

The lead was doubled when another Cope corner curled in at the near post, going in via the defender on the front post, the kick taker insisting the ball was crossing the line anyways.

Telford had another bit of pressure and pulled a goal back when a ball into the box was controlled and finished well to keep the game in the balance at the break with both teams playing some great football.

The second half started with more Telford pressure before the Ramblers took more of a control on the game and netted a third when Jaquiss, who had caused trouble all afternoon, turned inside a couple of defenders and finished low and hard into the bottom corner.

Jaquiss missed a couple more chances to add to the lead before the striker made no mistake after being put in behind the defence.

Telford had spells of possession in then game but rarely looked like creating many chances with the Ramblers playing some superb football and getting in behind the Telford defence more and more as the game wore on.
