Amos always looked a great prospect. During childhood, Ben
played for two sides - in goal for Crewe and centre
midfield for a local side. Amos was then spotted by
Manchester United scouts as he played in goal for his
local side. He worked his way up through United's
ranks and finally joined their U18 set up in 2006.
Continuing to impress, Amos cemented his place in the Under
18's side in the 06/7 campaign and the following season
saw Amos feature for the reserve side.
In 2008, Ben was included in Manchester United's tour of
South Africa. Although he did not feature he was named as a
substitute in three of the games. En route back to Britain,
United played Premier League Portsmouth in Nigeria. Amos
was brought on to play the last 14 minutes.
Two minutes later and Ben then made his first competitive
match as he made his debut against Middlesbrough in a 3-1
win in the Carling Cup.
December 2008 saw the Red Devils enter the World Club Cup.
Amos was included in the squad as back up, due to an injury
to Ben Foster. Although he didn't manage to feature, Amos
came back with the squad equipped with a winners medal.
