Away Day Review - Bloomfield Road - 30/4/11
Last updated : 01 May 2011 By Dan Buxton
Journey:
Caught the train up from Liverpool, absolutely no problems, 1h15 min direct journey. Then my other half picked me up from Blackpool station and we drove to the ground about 1hr before kick off, traffic was reasonable. 8/10.
Parking:
Parked on one of the side streets just down past Lidl, about a 5 min walk from the ground. No problem finding a space. Bit of a nightmare getting away from the area though, traffic was chocablock. 7/10.
Atmosphere:
Stokies were loud and it seemed a right party in there! Loved hearing the Kenwyne song too. I think their was a lull for about 5-10 minutes at some point in the 1st half when the game was at its scrappy best but other than that, I thought we underlined our tag as the loudest supporters. Blackpool fans were ok I guess, I sensed a lot of pre match nerves on their part (understandable) mind numbing though with the same song after song! 8/10.
Pies and pints:
Amazed by how quick I got served and how cheap it was. £2.50 a pint I paid! 10/10.
Performance and result:
1st half was a bit ropey, Bego needed to talk more. 2nd half, I thought we bossed it. We looked solid at the back, dangerous when going forward. A very progessional performance from a team that really is starting to look like an experienced premiership side. 0-0 against a Blackpool team that I bet 'Ollie got massively wound up for the game is a GOOD result! Shame we couldn't have nicked a winner. I'll go for a 7.5/10.
All in all, a good day out matched by a good performance... fingers crossed Blackpool can stay up so we can relive it all again next season!
