Over 10,000 tickets were already sold by the end of the early-bird offer and further sales have been helped by the clinching of an automatic birth. The club are understandably delighted with the sales but are hoping that the figure will continue to rise as they hope for a sell-out season at the Brit.
To put this in to some sort of context, on only 5 occasions in the last 25 years has the Potters average home league attendance broken 15,000 which includes the last 2 seasons, 2004-05 (cheap season ticket deal) and 1992 through to 1994 (Macari promotion and first year back). Next season could be the most attended home season for Stoke for a very long time with a 20,000 average gate last being achieved in 1979-80 (first season back in the top flight), and 25,000 last being achieved in 1974-75 when the team finished 5th in the top flight!
