Right we may be out of our depth but we are improving.
Last week we were completely battered by a side who hadn't lost in four years and this week we managed, against another side at the top end of the Premier League, to half the amount of goals conceded and double the amount we scored.
The same people dropped out again late on and so a few phone calls had to be again. These players will now be the ones who get first refusal until further notice and seeing as most are based in the Longton/Fenton end of the city we will be moving to Fenton Manor to play there in two weeks time at the end of this current season at Goals.
Adam Kemp did play this week and netted both goals to show his potential whilst Matthew Peart, also on debut, defied an early injury to put in a shift and was dangerous. Andrew McEvoy was steady in defence and did well whilst Dan Middleton, although out of breathe almost before the ref blew for the start of the game, showed better commitment.
The Mad sides case wasn't helped by a lack of a goalkeeper. Two were in the original squad but late withdrawals from Alan Spode and Dan Marsden left the side without a recognsied keeper and so the duties had to be shared around. This was the big difference in the sides, the ref told us at the end that we would beat most teams in the league below, a nice thought for the lads to go away with.
The move to Fenton Manor will see us start in Division 3. We will join midway through a season and have time to adjust to the indoor surroundings and hard floor conditions that Fenton Manor offer before kicking off the following season. Having played there before I believe we have a side that will be able to compete with the sides in the top division and should be battling for promotion in our first full season.
