The Chairman explained: "It is safe to say we haven't got value for money over the past five years, but the question is whether it will give us value for money in the future. That's what we must look at.
"We have new people on board in the Academy who we think are very capable and an improvement on what we had before. But the question is 'how many players will the Academy produce?' Then we have to weigh that up against those players stolen from us at tribunal.
"We also have to look into the alternative cost of doing something different."
It's thought that the academy costs the club around £500,000.
per year, though it is partly funded by grants and the Britannia Building Society 'Save and Support' scheme.
The Academy has produced such crop as James O'Connor, Clive Clarke, Chris Commons, Karl Henry and Lewis Neal.
