Stoke are steeping up their interest in Wigan defender Charles N'Zogbia after the defender went on strike at the DW Stadium.

Frenchman N'Zogbia refused to train or play on the eve of the Latucs season opener against Blackpool, after his request for a transfer was denied, but now seems certain to leave and that has sparked a rush for his signature,

Sunderland are the only party who have publicly stated their wish to sign the talented full back cum winger, and with Black Cats manager Steve Bruce being the man who signed N'Zogbia to Wigan they surely hold the early advantage, but the end of the transfer window is looming at the Potters now if they lay down a good deal they have a chance of landing a player who has earnt manay plaudits since bursting onto the scene at Newcastle United.

A fee of around £7m is being banded around, a significant drop on the £12m Wigan valued him at at the start of the summer.
