Richard Potts, Ticket Office Manager said: "On the whole we are very pleased with the numbers and the directors, players and staff appreciate the commitment of supporters.
"It would be nice to sell a lot more, but when you look back we sold less than 5,500 season tickets in our first season at the Britannia Stadium.
"We sold 5,000 prior to the initial deadline of April 15 to people prepared to put money where their mouth is when we did not know which division we would be in.
"At that time there was a massive saving of seven games and we have a hard core of fans who will back us regardless of our status.
"They are supporting the football club, not supporting a successful team, and it is nice to know we have a good base of at least 6,000 to build on every game."
