Ian Cranson's contract has ended, and it won't be renewed say Stoke City. The suprise news came as Stoke suggested re-shufflng their coaching team for next season - but we all thought Cranson would be involved, particuarly after guiding the reserves to promotion in the Avon Insurance League.
Cranson has been at the club since 1989, from playing to coaching and it will be sad to see him leave. Cranson admits there are limited jobs for him to move into now.
"I am mildly surprised, but when you're coming to the end of your contract in football you always know there can be a question mark over your future.
"After 23 years in football, this is the first time a decision has been out of my hands. I'll now have to wait and see what happens and if I stay in the game or not.
"The family is settled in Stone, where we have been since I first came to Stoke, and wanting to stay can limit your chances. And I'm sure there are a lot of coaches out of work out there."
