Potters left back Carl Dickinson looks set to seal a £500,000 transfer to npower Championship side Preston North End.
Preston have been tracking the defender for weeks and a deal is now close to being done and dusted with Lilywhites manager Darren Ferguson keen to complete the deal within the next few days to beat off potential competition from other Championship sides, including Barnsley, where 'Dicko' spent last season on loan.
He has also had loans spells at Blackpool, Leeds United and Icelandic side Vikingur during his time with the Potters and has played sixty times for the Potters, without scoring. His only professional goal came as a 93rd minute free kick for Barnsley against Cardiff, a goal that won the game for the Reds.
The Derby born defender will forever to remembered for his commitment and all action displays and the show of pure joy at the final whistle when the Potters got promoted, an achievement that Dickinson played his fair part in, with his celebrations with the fans being the iconic image with which the occasion is associated.
