Pulis said: "The squad strength is a concern with the season so close, and that's why we're doing our best to act on that and bring players in.
"Of course I'd like to have signed more players, but sometimes that's the way it is in football.
"Good players have to be available and then you have to work hard to get them to the club. That's what we'll continue to do until we're happy with the squad.
"But we shouldn't forget we also have some good players here already who get paid well by the football club.
"With the season coming up the challenge is there to do a job and give us a good start. We're still confident they can do that."
"We're still in discussions with Dominic and we think we're close to a deal with him.
"Jon might come to us on a loan basis, but we're still in talks and I don't think anything will be done before next week.
"We've also made Salif an offer and we're still waiting for him to respond."
