James Beattie looks set to get his, and the clubs wish, after Coventry and West Brom stepped up their attempts to sign the striker.
Beattie, 31, will command a fee of around £1m and Premier League new boys are the favourites to wrap up his signature this summer.
The five time capped England forward scored some vital goals in the 2008/9 season to more than justify his big wages and £3.25m transfer fee, helping the Potters to stay in the top flight. He fell out of favour last season due to fitness and form issues before an altercation with manager Tony Pulis following the away defeat to Arsenal in December, where he was allegedly struck by the gaffer after moaning about ONLY having a day off for the players Christmas party.
He was sparsely used after that, and did little to merit further game time, and even tried to sue Pulis, the case being thrown out when not one of his teammates would stand up for him.
