It is the first time that the stadium will have seating across the pitch to make the stadium a fully seated concert venue.
Chief Executive Tony Scholes said: "We are delighted that the Britannia Stadium has been chosen to stage this very prestigious event. The stadium now has a reputation for being a leading live music venue, attracting top artists from around the world. I am sure the community of Stoke on Trent will be delighted that we have been able to attract one of the world's greatest musical talents, whose shows receive critical acclaim".
City have previously hosted concerts by artists such as Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams and also reguarly has "Summer in the City" concerts arranged by the local radio station.
