City defensive duo Andrew Davies and Leon Cort are reportedly close to leaving the Potters on loan.
Davies, who can play anywhere across the back four, has struggled to get in the Potters side due to injuries and press reports show him as close to signing for Sheffield United on a 93-day loan. Davies signed for £1.25m from Southampton in August '08 but was injured for the majority of last season before finishing the season on loan at Preston. The loan may be turned into a permanent one in January.
Cort, a goalscoring centre back, signed for £1.5m from Crystal Palace in January '08 after a successful loan spell and has scored 8 goals in 50 appearances for the Potters. Cort is reportedly close to securing a transfer to Nottingham Forest and this is another deal that could well be made permanent in January for a player that was once the Potters record signing. Although he didn't have many bad appearances it was just the fantastic performances put in by Ryan Shawcross and Abdoulaye Faye that kept him out of the side last season and, with Robert Huth now competing for a spot aswell, he has limited opportunities for first team football this season.
Both deals may have to be put on hold until after the Potters Carling Cup tie at home to Blackpool on Tuesday as both are probably currently pencilled in to play.
