Striker Richard Cresswell is set to seal a £500,000 transfer to Sheffield United in the New Year.
Cresswell is currently on loan to the Blades, but cracked ribs when scoring his first goal for the side, and has made athree appearances.
However, even with his injury, manager Kevin Blackwell will scoop to net the Potters striker-come-winger full time.
The ex-Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds hitman has netted thirteen times in eighty three appearances for the Potters, where he has been almost exclusively deployed as a left winger. He was a mainstay in City's promotion campaign, scoring twelve goals including the all important winner away at Colchester that as good as sealed the Potters place in the elite.
Having arrived for a nominal fee the £500,000 for a player in his thirties and with no real chance of getting back in the side will represent something of a good deal for Stoke.
The News of the World quotes Cresswell as saying 'We're hoping to get something sorted out. This is a fantastic club and discussions are ongoing.'
