The 23-year-old has been in fine form for the Potters this season following his loan switch from Chelsea, but was injured in the defeat to Burnley at the weekend and will now not feature again until the new year.
"He has a significant thigh injury which is likely to keep him out for several weeks," Stoke assistant boss Mark Bowen told the club's official website.
Moses has made 12 appearances so far this season, scoring one goal, and his absence will be a major blow to manager Mark Hughes ahead of Saturday's trip to Liverpool, where Moses spent last season on loan.
"At the moment we're deciding with Chelsea whether to go back and have the rehab there or stay with our team," Bowen added on BBC Radio Stoke.
Defender Marc Wilson could be back in action for the trip to Anfield after recovering from a hamstring injury.
The Republic of Ireland international sustained the problem against Tottenham before the international break but is now back in training.
"Marc trained on Tuesday, albeit lightly, but he trained and will have more intensive training later in the week and hopefully he'll be available at the weekend," Bowen added.
