Jones has been accused of not fulfilling his potential so far in his career after a disappointing end to his spell at Sunderland.
The Trinidad & Tobago star has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham in the past before he left Sunderland for Stoke this summer.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce felt Jones needed to 're-ignite' his career following his departure from Wearside, but the 25-year-old is adamant he does not have to kick-start his career again.
Jones has scored four goals in his last four games for Stoke and he feels he has his best years in front of him.
"I don't think I have to re-ignite anything," Jones told the Daily Mail.
New chapter
"I just have to get back scoring and being who I am, that's all. Whatever he said is in the past, I'm on a new chapter.
"You can be the best player in the world but sometimes you have no confidence. You're not able to apply that or things aren't going right in your environment.
"Everyone has their potential but it's still to be seen what I can do. I'm 26 next month, not 35, so I have my best years in front of me. Sometimes I maybe don't give the performance I should but no-one gives it every single time.
"Sometimes I give the performance and people don't see it. That's football. Everyone has their opinions.
"To myself I don't have a lot to prove, I have a lot to do. For a lot of people I have a lot to prove but I'm not really focusing on the other people. No matter what you do in life you can't please everyone."
