"This club is far bigger than Stoke City," stated Kavanagh, "and with Sam Hammam behind us the only way is forward.
"Stoke City supporters are passionate about their team and Cardiff fans are just as passionate, but the difference between the clubs can be underlined by their potential.
"Stoke would attract 25,000 spectators in the Premiership, while Cardiff would attract 50,000.
"I didn' t believe it when I first came to Cardiff, but believe me it is true."
"I know Stoke will say it's going to be third time lucky for them, but we are confident we can make it to the Millennium Stadium and that would be the experience of a lifetime.
"It's going to be tough because they are a good side, but we are up for the challenge. We are better equipped than Stoke have been for the past two seasons when they went out.
"Teams will fear us after a 13-match unbeaten run."
Stoke, though, are equally as bullish and manager Gudjon Thordarson believes this is Stoke's year and insisted: "Kav and Thorney are not capable of stopping us, no-one is capable of stopping us.
"We look forward to taking them on in front of our loyal supporters and I have no worries we have the ability to win."
City host Cardiff next Sunday and then travel to Ninian Park three days later, while Brentford and Lou Macari's Huddersfield clash in the other Second Division semi-final.
