"I had the choice of coming here or Gillingham," confirms Jones, "but I spoke to Shaka and he was saying Stoke might be the better choice because Gillingham are struggling at the moment.
"He said things might not go right in a struggling team and so I chose Stoke."

"I'm definitely pleased to come here and play. As a football player you don't want reserve-team football. You would rather play competitive football as much as possible.

"I was hoping to continue playing at Southampton, but considering the situation we are in it's tough for the manager to choose me."
