18-year-old midfielder Nathaniel Wedderburn has received a call up to Noel Blake's England U19 squad.
The U19's will play three qualifying games in Slovenia between the 9th and 14th of October and Wedderburn will be looking to force him way into the first XI. England take on Slovenia, Slovakia and Finland in a round robin format to see who progresses.
The defensive midfielder graduated from the Potters academy and signed a professional contract in November of last season before joining League Two side Notts County. Despite being only 17 he played eleven times for County and impressed, despite the sides struggles at the bottom of the league.
A tall, well built powerhouse midfielder he also captained the academy last season and looked to stroll through the games as he was able to easily dominate the oppsotion at that level. The youngster also made 10 appearances for the Potters reserves last season, more than any other Potters player.
Although he is still waiting for his Potters first team debut he has been around the side numerous times, includingtravelling as back up as a 16-year-old in a trip to Crystal Palace and being an unused sub in this seasons Carling Cup tie at Leyton Orient and may be included when the Potters entertain Blackpool on Tuesday in the 3rd round of the competition before securing himself a loan move to a league club, with this call up sure to help him with his search.
