Stoke moved on from yesterday draw with Newport County by putting six past non-league Newport YMCA.
City changed their entire side from yesterdays game, which ended 1-1, and took a 3-1 lead into half time thanks to a brace from Ben Marshall and a goal from Matthew Lund, both youngster pushed up front for this fixture. YMCA's goal came from a superb 30-yard strike that left Carlo Nash with no chance.
The Potters continued to push after the break and rounded off the scoring thanks to a brace from Uruguayan midfielder Diego Arismendi and a goal for Rory Delap, on as a sub.
The Potter slack of striking options was evident with midfielders Marshall and Lund starting the gbame up front, although the former has league experience playing as a striker, before centre back Ryan Shotton led the line late on, a position he has previously played, albiet only in an emergency, for Altrincham and Tranmere during loan spells from the Potters.
