He told the Sentinel Newspaper: "Stoke now have people in charge who know English football. They also know what Stoke City is about and what the people of Stoke are about.

"Stoke are also in a good position to be taken over. When I signed for Lou Macari (from Birmingham for £100,000 in October 1992), Stoke were in Division Two and needed two promotions to reach the Premiership. Now they need only one and I see the future as bright. I hope so."
