Former England striker Michael Owen hinted on his Twitter account that will announce his next club on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old is a free agent following his release by Manchester United at the end of last season and has been strongly linked with a return to Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers said he was receptive to the idea of Owen returning to Anfield after the Reds boss failed to add to his strikeforce in the summer transfer window.
Owen is known to have been in discussions with an unnamed club, with Stoke boss Tony Pulis known to be keen and Sunderland and Everton also believed to be interested in his services.
And an announcement now appears imminent after he posted a picture of his boots and shin-pads on Twitter with the message: "The tools of my trade are stacked and ready to go."
And when new Marseille signing Joey Barton asked him, "Where you off mate?", Owen responded, "I will tell you on Wednesday", before later deleting the comment.
