With the summer transfer window set to slam shut at 6pm on Tuesday, clubs are desperately trying to push through last-minute deals.
Stoke are among those still hoping to strengthen before time runs out, with Pulis of the opinion that he needs as many as five fresh faces if his side are to remain competitive.
The Potters boss is also preparing to move a few players on in an effort to make room for his potential new signings.
"We're hoping to get four or five players in by Tuesday and there will be players leaving as well," said Pulis. "It may go to the wire but we are prepared to wait and ensure we get the right deals.
"We want to bring in some younger players, some players who will improve the group. That is important."
Reports suggest that Spurs and England midfielder Jenas, Middlesbrough defender David Wheater, Wigan's Colombia striker Hugo Rodallega and Monaco forward Eidur Gudjohnsen are all on Pulis' summer shopping list.
The Potters are also keen on Portsmouth captain Marc Wilson and could allow Liam Lawrence and Dave Kitson to head to the South Coast as part of a deal.
Asmir Begovic may also be offloaded, with Chelsea having seen an initial bid for the Bosnian shot-stopper knocked back.
