The Potters have been drawn to face Portsmouth at Fratton Park in the 4th round of the Carling Cup.
It is the first time in 15 Carling Cup ties that City have faced a side from the Premier League.
City reached the quarter finals last season by beating League Two Rotherham in the fourth round and have so far beaten lower league opposition in Leyton Orient and Blackpool, courtesy of Andy Griffin's 96th minute winner, to reach the last 16 this season.
There are thirteen Premier League sides left in the competition, along with three Championship teams, and the Potters know they will have to perform to their best if they want to go deep into the latter stages.
