Stoke can now look forward to a trip to Vale Park, after the draw for the early rounds of the Staffs Senior Cup.
The Potters got a bye to the last eight stage, along with holders Newcastle Town, and after the first round draw the Potters were awaiting the result of the first round tie between Heath Hayes and Port Vale, at the Cannock sides ground, before finding out which side they will travel to in the last eight.
That first round tie was played last week, and after Port Vale triumphed in extra time, City's opponents were decided, with the quarter final tie scheduled to be played on November 15th.
The Potters usually just play their academy players in the competition but a local derby, and the fact City aren't in a reserve league this season, may see City put out a few reserve players to try and grab bragging rights, nine years after the last meeting between the two rivals.
