Stoke look set to seal the deal to bring Eidur Gudjohnsen to the Britannia Stadium, holding off stiff competition from Fulham to land their man.
Gudjohnsen, 31, has been looking to leave Monaco after falling out of favour, and spent the second half of last season at Tottenham, scoring against the Potters during Tottenham's 2-1 win last season.
The Potters have been heavily linked with the former Chelsea and Barcelona striker in the past 48 hours but reports overnight suggested Fulham had taken pole position in the race to sign him.
However they seem to have been blown out of proportion with Gudjohnsen on his way to the Brit right now, and due to arrive any minute now, after the Potters agreed to pay £40,000 a week towards the stars £70,000-a-week wages at his parent club.
