Potters striker Kenwyne Jones has minor injury

There were fears he was facing an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering the injury on Saturday during the 2-1 defeat by Wolves.

Jones, an £8million buy from Sunderland, lasted barely 10 minutes of his debut following a challenge by Jody Craddock.

He then had a series of scans and X-rays on Monday to assess the extent of the injury and manager Tony Pulis breathed a sigh of relief after hearing the results.

He said: "The news is as good as we could have expected in the circumstances. We were obviously very concerned about the extent of the damage.

"But the tests have shown only minor ligament damage. We will assess Kenwyne's progress over the next few days so it is hard to say how long he will be out. We are talking days, though, not weeks or months."

Stoke's next match is against Tottenham on Saturday at the Britannia Stadium but whether Jones will be considered remains to be seen.
