Stoke are looking into the possibility of expanding the Britannia Stadium's capacity past 30,000 in the next 12 months.
Chief executive Tony Scholes confirmed that surveyors had already been to the ground to look into filling in at least one of the currently empty corners.
The Potters are looking into the expansion plans after selling a club record amount of season ticket and nearing in on the 20,500 season tickets that would mean the sold out signs would go up. this would currently leave just 2,000 seats for each matchday and would almost guarantee sell outs every week, just the same as the Potters have achieved this season with then record season ticket sales of 16,000.
If the club do expand the stadium to 30,000 or above then 3,000 tickets would have to be made available to away supporters, 250 more than the current amount, meaning the club may be able to move the location of the away supporters section and maybe free up the 800 seats currently covered by meshing to keep rival fans apart.
Any work will take place at the end of next season at the earliest and the Potters position and demand over the next 12 months will be filtered in when the club sit down to decide what, if any, action to take.
