Stoke are preparing a £2m swoop for Manchester United defender Wes Brown.

Brown, 31, has been at Old Trafford all of his career and made his debut 13 years ago,

The former England international can play anywhere across the back line but has seen his career hampered by a series of injuries, especially in recent years.

The Potters are searching for a centre back after releasing former club captain Abdoulaye Faye, with the club having already had a club record bid rejected for Birmingham star Neil Dann and have also enquired over the availability of Reading defender Matt Mills.
