Media reports are today indicating that the Potters are awaiting a response from Wigan after tabling a club record £7m bid for Latics left back Maynor Figueroa.
Figueroa is also being tracked by Liverpool but the same reports state that the Anfield club cannot afford the fee required to prise the full back away from the DW Stadium.
City's current record signing is Robert Huth, who cost £6m when he signed from Middlesbrough last summer.
The first team are now jetting off for a week long tour of Austria but that will not stop work continuing on deals such as this one with chief executive Tony Scholes set to remain at home and keep potential transfers progressing.
