Pulis added: "It was a scrappy, horrible game and their winner was a better goal than the match deserved.
"In the first half, we tried to be too clever on the ball and got caught numerous times.
"We never got to grips with them in the first half and I don't like people coming in at half-time and making excuses.
"We were better in the second period, though, and after equalising I honestly thought we would go on and win."
"We just need to keep plugging away and get as many points as we possibly can.
"It's difficult to tempt people away from other clubs before the deadline, so I'm not so sure we will be seeing any new faces.
"We are trying to sort Kenwyne out and I'd hope to keep him here until the end of the season.
"I thought he was bright against Gillingham and brave in getting above the keeper to get our goal."
