The Potters boss was disappointed with the manner in which th side conceded six goals aganst a resurgent Palace side.
"I'm a little disappointed to come away with nothing, but Palace and especially Andy Johnson are playing very well at the moment and we found it difficult to contain them at times," he told the clubs official website after the 6-3 defeat at Selhurst Park.
"We played well in places and in most other games the three goals we scored would have guaranteed us at least a point.
"But we conceded some sloppy goals and added to the two penalties it just helped Palace, their confidence grew and they thrived on it."
"The lads showed tremendous character today and they never gave up hope of getting something out of the game.
"In the end the goals we conceded immediately after we scored in the first half proved to be our downfall.
"But we didn't go nine games unbeaten for nothing and it's up to the players to show their quality next week and bounce back from today's defeat."
