Pulis, who has been strongly linked with a £5million bid for West Ham midfielder Mark Noble, is ready to wield the axe in the coming weeks.
The Britannia Stadium manager guided his troops to an 11th place finish this term, an improvement of one place and two points on their first season back in the big time.
James Beattie and Dave Kitson are two players widely expected to be heading for the exit, with Pulis confirming that he wants to reduce the numbers on the Potters' books.
Pulis said: "The squad is too big and we've got to shift players.
"I want a leaner squad next year, but I want to try to bring a bit more quality in."
