It looks very much like the end of the season can’t come fast enough for the Stoke side that looked to be already on their holidays as the home side simply outclassed the visitors.
Take nothing away from the Potters, it’s been a long season and they , like many, have met a side in Newcastle that has simply gelled together nicely and they play some very good football and a defeat was always on the cards from the moment the first goal went in.
But Tony believes that the Potters had the chances to have got a draw from the game, maybe even win it.
He told reporters: "Jon Walters really could have scored a hat-trick by himself. The main difference was they got in good scoring opportunities and hit the target; we got in good scoring opportunities and we didn't hit the target.
"I don't think their keeper had a save to make. I am not picking on Jon - Jon has been fantastic for us. He's a great lad and he kept going and kept going.
"But he had three great chances by himself, never mind the rest of the team."
Let’s just say we’ll be hoping for better next time out.
