Stoke fans know all about Atkinson and how he has conducted things when in charge of a Stoke game and he is back again on Saturday when the mighty Potters take on Sunderland at the Britannia Stadium.
Atkinson was in charge for the game against Man City in the FA Cup final and amazingly, by his standards, he had a quiet game.
But earlier last season he was in charge of the game between Sunderland and Stoke at the Stadium of light. That day there were five yellow cards show, all to Stoke players, and just for good measure he sent Ryan Shawcross off and the Potters went down 2-0.
The last time he was here in Stoke for a game was in November of last year when he took charge of the game against Fulham. Stoke won that game 2-0, he must have been pretty annoyed about that because no less than eight yellow cards were shown, four each in fact.
So far this season Atkinson has been putting himself about a bit and trying his best to stay in the limelight during games. The 25 that he has been in charge of so far has seen him show 97 yellow cards, he must have forgotten to pick his red card up sometimes because he has only managed to show eight of them.
So get your tickets early to see the Martin Atkinson show on Saturday and let’s have a big cheer when he reaches yellow Card number 100.
I believe there is a football match going on as well.
