Pulis told the Evening Sentinel: "Sergei's situation is difficult because his family want to be back in Russia.
"Irrespective of what people say, I think Sergei will eventually want to be back with his family.
"I can't see that being resolved by his staying at Stoke, but if he does go it will be a shame because he was terrific last season, but we would be looking for a fee for him."
