Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross has been named in the England squad for Wednesday's friendly against Egypt.Only hours earlier Shawcross, 22, was shown a red card for a challenge on Aaron Ramsey which left the Arsenal midfielder with an horrific injury.
England coach Fabio Capello also named Everton's Leighton Baines and Aston Villa's Stephen Warnock in his squad.
West Ham striker Carlton Cole and Arsenal winger Theo Walcott have also been recalled for the Wembley fixture.
Shawcross had never previously been included in an England squad but has been instrumental in Stoke's impressive recent run - Tony Pulis' side were unbeaten in 2010 before Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.
Capello delayed the announcement of the squad by 40 minutes to have a final discussion with his assistant Franco Baldini about Shawcross' inclusion in light of events at the Britannia Stadium.
Shawcross left the pitch in tears after receiving his marching orders for a mis-timed tackle, while Ramsey was stretchered off and taken to hospital in an ambulance with a suspected broken leg.
