The 36-year-old Dane has 12 months remaining on his contract but was second choice behind Asmir Begovic last season. Begovic has been linked with a move to Liverpool but that will depend on the future of Reds keeper Jose Reina, whose reported move to Barcelona may have been scuppered by Victor Valdes' decision to see out the final year of his contact.
However with England Under-21 international Jack Butland joining the club full-time, Sorensen's position may be squeezed further. "I do want to be playing more and if I am in the manager's plans then great," he told The Sentinel.
"I am really happy at Stoke and my family are happy. That is a big thing for me, especially at my age.
"It is a long summer and a lot can happen, but when we report back I am sure everyone will know what the club's plans are.
"It was frustrating (last season) but I have great respect for how Asmir played.
"It makes it easier to accept when you are not in the team if the other guy is doing a great job.
"It doesn't reflect on my capabilities and I have not changed by ambitions, I want to get in that team and do well.
"But I have been long enough in the game to know you have to wait and see."
