Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant will undergo a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the hamstring injury he suffered at West Brom on Saturday.Pennant, 27 was substituted after just eleven minutes of the 3-0 win and could now miss this weekend's home game with Manchester City.
Potters first team coach Mark O'Connor told BBC Radio Stoke, "Hopefully we caught it early enough.
"He might be struggling at the weekend but I don't think it'll be long term."
The on-loan Real Zaragoza wide-man has been in good form this season and the club have indicated a desire to make his move permanent during the January transfer window.
Pennant has featured in ten games for Stoke this season but O'Connor admits that injuries like this are always a threat to players who rely on pace.
"He's a fit boy but I think those type of players who are explosive and quick on the turn are more susceptible to those sort of hamstring injuries.
"It was a damp, cold afternoon, perhaps he didn't warm up as well as he should, I really don't know, it can happen," he added.
