Striker Louis Moult has had a summer loan move to the Potters American sister club, Austin Aztex, scuppered by FIFA red tape.
The US Division 2 side wanted to take the talented hitman on loan for the US season to help him gain some competitive experience but the deal hit a snag due to the Potters stars age.
FIFA rules state that players under the age of 18 are classed as minors and therefore cannot be loaned across federations. The rule was even more frustrating as Moult turns 18 as the English season ends, and by then the US transfer window will have well and truly slammed shut.
The Aztex are owned and were founded by City director Phil Rawlins and he has stated how he is disappointed this deal fell through but hopeful that others can now be done where the Potters youngsters can gain further experience playing on the other side of the Atlantic.
During the clubs previous ownership, by Mssrs Gislason and co, City sent Carl Dickinson and Keith Thomas to play in Iceland whilst the English season took its summer break.
