Thomas said: "Towards the end I was made a few offers, but not until towards the very end. It all came a little too late after all the messing around.
"I've got nothing against the manager, players or the club, it's just the people at the top.
"I was asking for a contract at the beginning of the year and it took until a month before the end of the season for me to be offered something that was relatively decent. It was all too late.
"They are the ones who hold the purse strings and if they want to keep players they have to act quicker.
"I just hope the people in charge of Stoke show the same ambition as the players and the fans - it has got to run right through the club."
Burnley showed alot more desire to sign the player than Stoke did, which even involved the manager Steve Cotterill flying over to America to meet Wayne when he was over there on holiday.
Why Burnley? "It was to do with ambition," said Thomas. "I thought Burnley were on the up and the chance to link up with Steve Cotterill again was a big influence.
"Him coming out to America had a massive influence. The fact he was willing to do that said a lot about how serious the club was about pushing forward".
