January 2003: Signs for Newcastle in £9m deal, leading to Leeds manager Terry Venables to resign over the transfer and Leeds fans to protest at the sale of the 'jewel in the crown'
April 2004: Was Man of the Match in UEFA Cup semi final 1st leg after marking Marseille striker Didier Drogba out of the game. Season was ended through injury before second leg defeat
August 2004: SIgned for Real Madrid in £13.4m transfer, whilst injured. Newcastle fans proclaim him as 'one the finest players the club has ever had'
September 2005: Finally makes Madrid debut, but scores own goal and is sent off in horror opening game
October 2005: Scores his only Madrid goal during 4-1 Champions League win against Rosenborg
February 2006: Is an established member of the side with Mejia, Pavon, Helguera and Ramos taking it in turns to partner him in defence. Described in Spanish paper as 'Madrid's true leader'
June 2006: Misses out on England 2006 World Cup squad after surgery on back injury
August 2006: Joins Middlesbrough on one year loan deal
September 2006: Makes 'Boro debut, earning the Man of the Match in game against Arsenal
February 2007: Made first start for England in friendly with Spain
June 2007: Signs 4 year contract at Middlesbrough, after signing for £7m
July 2007: Voted the 'worst signing of the 21st century' in a Spanish newspaper, with 37% of the votes
October 2007: Voted North east Player of the Year
January 2008: Signs for Tottenham for £7m. Makes his Spurs debut two days later
February 2008: Scores first goal for Spurs in extra time to beat Chelsea in Carling Cup final. Woodgate was also named Man of the Match
September 2008: Named Spurs captain in home game against Villa
2009/10: Plays just 3 times during season, due to a groin injury, as Spurs qualified for the Champions League
2010/11: Plays just once, a Man of the Match display at the San Siro against AC Milan, due to groin injury
