"Certain people react differently to certain issues in their lives, " Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke. "Kenwyne is a gentle lad and you never hear him moan.

"Fingers crossed, he's got over those issues so he can push on and play as well as he did against Everton."

The Trinidad and Tobago international, 26, scored in four of his first six games for Stoke after an £8m move from Sunderland.

However, he only netted a further two goals in his subsequent 14 appearances before finding the net again on New Year's Day.

The Potters, who are currently eighth in the Premier League, are away at leaders Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

Stoke have not scored in a match at Old Trafford since December 1980, when former striker Lee Chapman found the net in a 2-2 draw.

Chapman told BBC Radio Stoke: "I always remember that the games against United were very competitive.

"There's always been a lot of rivalry between the two teams, but I didn't realise I was the last person to score for Stoke at Old Trafford. It's quite incredible."
