Walters, 28, is likely to be on the bench on Tuesday when the Republic face Armenia in their crucial final Euro 2012 qualifier, where they need to avoid defeat to secure a play-off place.
Former Ipswich frontman Walters has won just two caps, making his debut against Norway last year, but Pulis believes he is good enough to go on to win many more.
"We're always pleased to see our lads representing their country," Pulis told The Sentinel. "Jon has been a tremendous signing for us over the last 12 months and he can definitely have a role to play for his country.
"He has already formed a good partnership with Peter Crouch for us, so that just shows how well and how quickly he can adapt alongside other players.
"And I still think he can play wide as well as through the middle, both for club and for country."
